Meias luas, chocolate e amizade / Crescents, chocolate and friendship

Muitas das receitas que faço são de amigos e família, ainda que gosto muito de pesquisar na Internet e em livros. A primeira vez que experimentei essas bolachas sublimes foi no casamento da minha amiga Loredana. Conheci ela nos Estados Unidos há exactamente 14 anos. Foi num coffee break para instrutores de línguas extrangeiras da Universidade de Maryland.  Lembro que ao entrar na sala eu estava muito nervosa pois ainda não falava muito inglês e não conhecía ninguém. Aí uma moça elegantérrima, de sorriso perfeito e olhos de um azul que só tinha visto nas praias do meu país (Venezuela) se aproximou falando um espanhol peninsular perfeito e foi muito gentil comigo. Nesse instante ficamos amigas e até hoje são muitas as coisas que temos vivido juntas. Mesmo morando tão longe, nunca perdemos o contato. Eu agradeço muito a generosidade da minha amiga e da sua família que, na verdade, é a minha também! E voltando ao assunto desse blog, essas bolachas leves e deliciosas acompanhando um chá ou um café vão deixar seu dia melhor. Eu garanto!

Even though I love to use Internet and books to get most of the recipes I make, there are some that come from family and friends. The first time I tried these sublime cookies was at my friend's wedding. I met Loredana in the States exactly 14 years ago during a coffee break offered for the new Teaching Assistants of the Foreign Languages Department at the University of Maryland. I remember being very nervous because by that time I didn't speak good English and didn't really knew anybody. But then there was this elegant young lady with a perfect smile and incredible blue eyes (I had seen that turquoise just in the warm waters of Venezuelan beaches, my home country btw), who approached me speaking a perfect Peninsular Spanish and being very nice to me. Since that very moment we became friends and during these 14 years there have been many things that we have lived together. Even now that we live far away, we keep emailing each other. I am very grateful for having Loredana and her family in my life. Actually, I feel I am the fourth Di Stravolo sister! Now going back to the main topic of this blog, these heavenly cookies along with a warm cup of tea or coffee will make your day be perfect. I guarantee it!
